National Get Outside Day
Today was National Get Outside Day. We decided to head slightly further than our usual local park, on the train to find some greenery. Basil, our dog, loves a sniff around the forest especially in the autumn leaves, while the squirrels are lurking around the oak tree trunks. We're so lucky that our local station is only a few stops away from Chingford, the stop for Epping Forest. Basil is a good train rider although he often gives longing stares to anyone eating a cheese sandwich on their journey. When we hopped off the train it was only a couple...
Royal Parks Half
When my sister, who is several years younger than me and a keen runner, asked if I wanted to join her running the Royal Parks Half I mentioned it to our daughter Eliza. Having never run a long distance before I was suprised when she jumped at the chance. A snap decision, while I was still pondering, she was signed up and organised to fundraise for World Child Cancer. I decided I'd be better off in the support team. After a few weeks of hard training (her, not me) it was finally the day. Nervous and tired (an early start),...
Camino Ultra
When not lounging on PACMATs DaznBone are busy organising ultra trail races around London with Camino Ultra. Next up is the Lea Valley 50k. Rubbastuff is very pleased to be donating two PACMATs on the day. "We've had ours for years and the quality is exceptional"
Rain and shine
A day trip out in Epping to (socially distance) meet up with some friends and walk the dog away from the crowds and tempting picnics in East London Parks. The weather looked good. We ventured into the forest and chose our spot. No sooner had we sat down, and cracked open the sandwiches, it started to rain. The PACMAT came in as handy rain covers (having forgotten our waterproofs). The shower was heavy, but didn't last long. The PACMATs were laid out to dry and we finished our cheese sandwhiches and have a game of hide and seak in the sunshine....
Ticking off the London Parks
How many London Parks can you get in one walk? Heading off from our house on a sunny Saturday afternoon for a dog walk, I couldn't quite decide which of our local parks to go to, so Basil and I thought we'd try a few on a circular walk. Each park has its own personality. All, well most, are very popular and busy. So we started off heading to our nearest park, London Fields. This was packed. I didn't dare let Basil off the lead. On hot weekend days there's a definite festival feel. It's quite a young crowd and gets...
