Beachin' at St Ives
The final day in Mousehole, we decided to head over to St Ives. Our day out started at The Leach Pottery Museum. Located in St Ives, an unassuming building on the main road giving access to a fascinating tour of the history of the Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada's story of the Leach Pottery, founded in 1920. We saw potters wheels, kilns, clay storage and had a play with glaze painting ending with the gallery and shop of artist's finished pieces. By the time we'd finished in the museum it was lunchtime. We headed to St Ives beach to have a picnic. It...
National Fish and Chip Day!
Today, June 2nd, is National Fish and Chip Day. It's a day to celebrate this traditional meal of the working classes throughout the United Kingdom. Where did this meal come from? Founded in 2015 by National Edible Oil Distributors Association. But the history of fish and chips as a meal comes from the late 1800s when trawl fishing the North Sea brought in plenty of readily available fish. This made it reasonably priced. The working class at the time tended to have physically demanding jobs meaning they needed a high calorie diet. Battered fish and with chips provided this, and because...

Camping above sunset beach
We loved Gwynver beach so much we decided to camp for a few nights right above at Trevedrafarm. It's an amazing spot, with a sea view, just a short walk from the beach. . (The picnic bench was a lucky find - The PACMAT made a perfect table cloth). After a day on the beach, it's easy to head back to camp to clean up and have supper before going back down to the beach to enjoy the last of the day and the fabulous sunset. .
