Take them for a walk they said...
So we did.
Ash and Jen from The Potbank Aparthotel in Stoke, (as seen in the TV show Four in a Bed, Channel 4) came to Chamonix to stay in a friends chalet for a week and see the valley in the summer. (Ash had previously visited during the ski season). Their friend asked us to take them out on a walk.
We met early, starting from the Auberge Boerne near Tre-Le-Champ, on the road going up to the Col de Montet. Winding up through the woods until reaching the top of the tree line then heading up the steep slopes to the top of the Aguilette des Posettes.
The path crossed the plateau summit where we stopped for a much needed picnic. (See main picture with our Gabby Malpas Poppy and Ordnance Survey Lake District PACMATs). It was the perfect picnic place in the sun, if a little popular. The path then went down to the Col des Posettes and the Chalets de Balme and more refreshment.
After a little rest here we carried on in a north westerly direction around to the left of the Tete de Balme to find Lac de Catogne. A great Swim at 2206m altitiude.
Heading back home via the the Balme ski trails and Charamillion, offers the option of a ride down on the telecabine, or a pleasant trail back to Le Tour, before heading slightly upwards through the chalets of Tre-le-champ back to the Auberge for more refreshments. A good day done, all nicely shattered (including the dog).
