Motivating the kids to get out and walk!
Sometimes it's hard to drag them off the sofa and away from electronics so we thought we'd give them a little motivation and a goal to aim for, something they could be proud to achieve. We talked about possible things between us and decided 100 miles forwards was a good one.
As we were doing a lot of steep tracks too, not just walking distance, we thought we should have a vertical target as well - so we set the goal of "climbing Mont Blanc", and drew up a chart, something measurable, where they could see their progress.
On each walk we set the Strava and then enjoyed looking at our achievements later that evening. It gave them a great sense of satisfaction - just look at their faces in this picture where they reached their target. What should we set for next year?
