A thunder-ful day!
The weather was a bit cooler, so we thought we'd head to Le Tour for some mountain biking. The bikes are allowed on the gondola to the mid station and then up on the chair lift, to Col de Balme. Unfortunately Basil, our dog, isn't much good at mountain biking and he's not allowed on the chair lift.
We all travelled on the first lift up together, but separated for the second. I walked up with Basil while the others rode the chair with their bikes. Basil was so pleased to be reunited with everyone again at the top.
The sky was starting to cloud over and it looked like the weather was about to break, so they all wheeled off, down the mountain track on their bikes. Poor Basil was very upset about being left. Then the thunder started. He hates thunder! And I realised I'd forgotten my waterproof. Optimistically I'd packed a picnic blanket, so I got this out of the bag and wrapped it around me to keep dry. Basil pulled me all the way down the steep, stoney path... right to the bottom, at high speed. I must have looked quite a sight trying to keep up with him, wrapped in a picnic mat.
