Bold Women in Business
Not really a title I would expect to find myself below but Fount London, a new lifestyle destination concept, housed in 3 railway arches in East London, cool childcare, pop up shops, vibrant cafes and retail units, founded by Rachel Munro-Peeples and Elena Mackey, asked me to take part in a talk about entrepreneurs and networking. I joined the panel with Gayle and Cat from Hustle and Fox and Lisa from TantrumXYZ. Initially I thought this was a rather odd subject for a chat. I don't network. I am lucky enough to know a lot of people I like, respect, who sometimes have mutually beneficial skills. Most of...
Picnic with mother
The weather, at least here in London, is looking good for Mother's day this Sunday. Full Sun. If you've got run away toddlers and kids with ants in their pants a picnic might be 'relaxing' for everyone, or as relaxing as you're going to get without running away to a secret destination for the weekend without the kids. (Now there's an idea). Picnics are a great way for the family to get together and have some quality time. Take games you can play together, head out to some open space and of course pack some yummy food and perhaps a bottle...
Keep fit, sitting at a desk.
When I’m in London, sat at a computer for the best part of the day. Indoors. Not walking, skiing or climbing anywhere (apart from the walls) I still need find an effective way of keeping fit and mobile ready for when I can get out and about. The most time efficient class I’ve found is Circuits run by London Fields Fitness. Monday a quick half an hour of pain with Sapan will sort out any weekend slothfulness, ready for the week. Tuesday Rebecca tells me what to do. By Wednesday with Alex I’m ready for a beating. Thursday is a rest day with...
PACMAT Patch reviewed by The Helpful Hiker
"It looks great, is incredibly light and comes in a handy little carry bag." "I was immediately interested as I could see so many ways that this mat could be useful to us. I was offered the chance to try one out so got a “Patch” in the snakes and ladders design-I thought that Finn would like that one! I choose this size because it’s perfect to sit on while having a cup of tea while out walking, it’s also compact and very light at just 100g. I also liked the fact that this model has a Thinsulate layer to help...
Just getting out of the house!
Getting the kids out for a walk can be a time consuming business. We always picnic, of course. In our experience we've found it quicker to throw things in the rucksack and make the picnic when we get there. Along with Mia's top hot dog in a Thermos tip here are a few others. Find a good, compact cooler bag. We use a small rectangular one from Thermos. Keep a simple penknife in it. - Pop a whole avocado and a teaspoon in the bag.- Endive is compact and easy to carry, delicious crunch salad.- Spice things up with some radishes. They travel...
