National Get Outside Day

Today was National Get Outside Day. We decided to head slightly further than our usual local park, on the train to find some greenery. Basil, our dog, loves a sniff around the forest especially in the autumn leaves, while the squirrels are lurking around the oak tree trunks. We're so lucky that our local station is only a few stops away from Chingford, the stop for Epping Forest. Exploring Dartmoor - September 11, 2022

To the waterfall!

The forecast was good, the younger ones in the group were going to see friends, so we thought it was a good opportunity to plan a longer walk. We chose a spot with a waterfall which promised a wild swim. The perfect place to stop for a picnic. We parked in the car park near the shop and visitors centre in Postbridge. The shop has lots of picnic supplies including rather large veggie pasties. After stocking up we set off along the path. It was a warm day, so we were dressed in T shirts and shorts. Dartmoor climbing

It was the last day of our group together on the moor, so we wanted to do something the kids (and adults) would especially remember. We booked in for a half day with Crag 2 Mountain. I'd first came across of Crag 2 Mountain when I was watching Julia Bradbury's Dartmoor Walk on ITV, featured here on The Outdoor Guide. The previous week had been crazily hot so we'd mainly stuck to wild swimming, walking in the shade of the woods or going out early or late.
