We wanted to find a good base to camp near Courmayeur, with easy access to the Tour Du Mont Blanc walks. We arrived late on a Friday night. The first two sites we checked out seemed really busy so we tried one more, a little further away. It was just perfect. We checked into Camping La Sorgente. The pitches had plenty of space. There was a mix of campers, large and small, family tents and lots of hike tents. There were two toilet blocks, both immaculate, with free hot showers. Lavachey to Rifugio Elena We checked out of Camping Monte Bianco La Sorgente late morning and drove up the long, twisty road to Lavachey, hoping to find a parking spot. Luckily, we managed to grab one of the last spaces. By then it was almost lunchtime, so we decided to have a picnic by the river before setting off on our walk. After lunch, we started walking up the hairpin road. As we climbed, the road gradually straightened out, opening up to huge mountain views, with cattle grazing on either side. Peuterey to Elisabetta We were camping at Campeggio Monte Bianco, which made it the perfect starting point for walking the Peuterey to Elisabetta section of the Tour du Mont Blanc. We left the campsite on foot, following a path through the trees and along the river. Finding the start of the trail was a little tricky, but eventually we picked up the TMB yellow signs.
