Two days in the Italian Alps
We wanted to find a good base to camp near Courmayeur, with easy access to the Tour Du Mont Blanc walks. We arrived late on a Friday night. The first two sites we checked out seemed really busy so we tried one more, a little further away. It was just perfect. We checked into Camping La Sorgente.
The pitches had plenty of space. There was a mix of campers, large and small, family tents and lots of hike tents. There were two toilet blocks, both immaculate, with free hot showers. And the views were unreal!Â
Oh, and the site rents bikes... there's a bouldering wall and trampoline for kids and it looks like you can check in with your horse too. The shop takes orders for morning bread and the pizzas and salads served at the cafe are delicious. With a lovely outdoor seating area. There's an indoor one too incase the weather changes. This site had it all.
We spent two nights here first walking towards Elisabetta and then exploring the area of Refuge Elena.
The staff were helpful and friendly.
It was off season, September, and per night cost us:
- 10 euros for the van
- 10 euros per person per night
- 3 euros for electrical supply
- 3 euros for Basil, the dog
And if you haven't got a tent or a van, there's also the option to book bunk rooms. With a quiet, relaxation area especially for Tour Du Mont Blanc hikers.
