Dartmoor in December
Heading to Dartmoor for a few days in December, of course we'd packed our waterproof everything... including socks!
Day 1
We headed up the local path, which at this time of year is nearly always a river, and walked up onto the moor. Getting up high, we stopped for a picnic in the shelter of the wall.
Then walking on, reaching Hookney tor, looking down onto Grimspound and the road that leads to mum and dad's old house. A favourite view. It was wet and windy but clear and the views were amazing.

Day 2
We decided to walk in the opposite direction from day 1, heading up to Easdon Tor. It was quite wet, but we still got a view from the top and stopped for a quick picnic before heading down on the circular path back to the road.

Day 3
It was wet!
We walked up towards Grimspound again, but this time turning back a little early. It was just so wet, that Dartmoor wet that gets through everything, even the best waterproofs. We ended up having our picnic back in the warmth of the kitchen. Followed by a festive pub quiz at The Old Inn, Widecombe.

Day 4
The sun came out!
Typically our last day and the weather was glorious. We walked up to Kings Tor and round. It was very cold, so we didn't linger too long but did have a festive picnic on the rocks.

Nothing beats a sunny day on Dartmoor mid winter.
