A long lunch out in Morvan National Park

We spent two nights at Espace Vital Camping, in the Morvan National Park, near the village of Saint Leger sous Beuvray. Not far from the historic town of Autun, Burgandy.

A wonderfully peaceful campsite, in fact there was only one other tent there at the top of the field. The stars at night were unbelievable with no light pollution around at all. Our campervan pitch with electric was 30 Euros a night. Paul and Leanne were incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. They even provided us with a longer electric lead so that we could have the best view of the sunset from our pitch.

Our picnic walk loop from the camp site was nearly 15km with 264m elevation gain. Half a baguette each (Traditional) with cheese, avocado and tomato. It was a hot and balmy day, with clouds gathering towards the end of the afternoon. We made it back just in time for a downpour, making use of the barn/bar area at the site in the evening.

We came across this big fellow on the route. Basil was keen to get past.

The bakery in the village was a short cycle from the campsite (with one steep, challenging hill on the return). We did treat ourselves to a couple of pastries too before setting off.
