Autumn days

Autumn days

Autumn is well under way and so, vibrant oranges and reds are emerging in our parks and countryside.
Collecting fallen leaves is a great autumn activity. As well as a reason for getting out and about, they make for so many arts and crafts opportunities too!
Here are a few of our favourite:

Glitter leaves
Using glitter glue, trace along the stems and veins of the leaves. Tie up with string and hang in front of your window for a shimmering autumn decoration.
Leaf printing
This will work with leaves that have not yet dried out. Using a paint roller and a child safe paint, coat the leaf and then turn face down onto a sheet of paper. Clean the roller and roll over the leaf to make a cool print. A light coat of paint will help the patterns and lines of the leaf appear.
Collages
Dry leaves can be crushed up to create small segments and fresher leaves can be torn or left as they are for larger parts. Create an image or go abstract and enjoy all the colours autumn has to offer.
Leafy stain glassed windows
Using a child safe glue, stick autumn leaves to white or pale coloured tissue paper. Cut out a ring from recycled cardboard, and place the tissue paper to cover the ring, securing with tape on the other side. Hang in front of a window and the daylight will show off your lovely leaf collection.
